Radar Parking Mode
with Built-in Radar
Radar Parking mode is a low-powered recording mode that utilizes the U3000’s built-in front and rear radars to monitor motion with minimal power consumption (requires hardwiring or OBD-II cable, OBD-II cable included). This allows for longer parking surveillance with buffering so you have footage of events leading to an incident. When a motion or impact is detected, the U3000 will save a 20-sec video clip of the incident (10s before and after the motion or impact is detected).
Note:
– Parking Surveillance mode requires Hardwiring Cable or OBD-II Power Cable and installation (professional installation recommended).
– The distance and degree of detection can be different depending on the environment and other factors.
– Not every object is guaranteed to be detected.
– THINWKARE CONNECTED features are unavailable in Radar Parking Mode as all network data functions are turned off to reduce power consumption.
Smart Parking Mode 1.0
This safety feature prevents heat-related damage by automatically switching the U3000 to a low-power mode if the temperature inside the vehicle gets too high during Parking mode. In this state, the dash cam records incidents triggered by impacts only until its operating temperature is safe again to resume Motion Detection or Timelapse Parking mode.
Energy Saving Mode
Records footage triggered by impacts only, allowing the dash cam to reduce power consumption and remain in Parking mode for a longer duration.
Time Lapse
Time Lapse records footage at 2fps, allowing the dash cam to capture extended periods of uninterrupted video without a significant increase in power consumption.
Motion Detection
Initiates a 20-second recording when there is motion present in front of camera lenses or impact with the vehicle (10s before and 10s after the event).
Easy Wi-Fi Device Pairing
Hassle-free dash cam pairing with your compatible Android or iOS device via the THINKWARE DASH CAM LINK App. Once paired, adjust your dash cam’s settings or replay and download your latest driving videos on the go.

iVolt Xtra External Battery
Get up to 20 days of Radar Parking mode by pairing the U3000 with the iVolt Xtra External Battery (sold separately). When connected to the battery, the U3000 will announce important information such as battery charge level and status, and unlock the ‘External Battery Saving’ setting. This feature allows the dash cam to automatically switch to Energy Saving mode and conserve power if the battery level falls below 20%.
Note: Time is based on ideal conditions. Actual run-time may vary.

I recently installed the rear camera but cannot get it to work. I have checked the wiring and camera and every thing looks ok but it does not work! Hope you can help me on this one. I have paid $80 for this install that does not work. The front camera has worked ok since it was installed!!!!!

I didn’t have any problems with the rear camera – installing or using. I followed the installation instructions and ensured that the end of the cable labeled “FRONT” was inserted into the front/main dashcam.
To make installation easier I downloaded the Android app, powered the dashcam temporarily with the 12v adapter, and watched live on my phone as I positioned the camera before touching the adhesive to the glass
I also didn’t have a problem finding a user manual/instructions, as the one guide that came in the package had a QR code that takes you to a web page with user manuals for all of Thinkware’s products.
The radar/motion detection has worked well so far.
I will edit this review (if possible) to include any long term observations, and to see if this camera holds up to winter cold.

While the picture is not as good as I expected, it is still quite nice! The biggest plus for me is that this camera actually turns on/works when its supposed to, and shuts off/stops recording when it’s supposed to. I can’t say that about the other dashcam brand I bought a few months ago! The U3000 is also easy to connect to the app and easy to set up. Definitely happy so far with this purchase!

Great quality I do like the u1000 a little better but being able to have increased quality is worth it. They need to allow larger storage though

I’ve been using Thinkware products for many years. Mainly been using the Thinkware F800 2 Channel in my F150. I recently decided to upgrade to the U3000, and am not disappointed at all. It is a very solid upgrade over the previous 1080 generation of dash cameras from Thinkware.
The app is much more intuitive then the older one which constantly had connection issues. I did have a few issues at first as I could not get the U3000 to connect to the app for the initial setup. After many hours of trouble shooting I found out it was because I plopped in the older dash camera MicroSD card that was full, and the camera wouldn’t function correctly until I reformatted the MicroSD card on the computer. I was then able to plug it in and complete the initial setup and reformat the card on the device directly.
Overall the camera quality is great, the parking modes, and the included OBD connection setup is fantastic. Much easier, and don’t have to worry about hardwiring this camera directly to the battery/fusebox. The parking modes can be a bit intimidating, but with some tweaking you can get it just right so that you don’t have 10+ alerts every time you get in the car.
Compared to some other dash camera brands, I was a bit reserved on my purchase, as some online videos were pretty rough on this U3000, regarding quality compared to other 4k models. But in the end, I went ahead with the U3000 just due to the reliability of the parking modes, and experience with the previous camera I’ve used for many years.
On sale, this is a must have for sure if you want something reliable that will function on very hot summer days or very cold winter nights and still function as intended. There are also many online features that I have not yet tested.

After doing research for the current 2023 lineup of dashcams, I settled on this model. Video image quality had its pro’s and con’s compared to other models, but after personally using it and viewing video quality, I feel it achieves what I’m looking for in a dashcam.
Installation on this camera was pretty easy. I did have an issue with the rear camera though. The connection to the camera was not great. Slightly tapping the connection would cause it to disconnect. I did end up exchanging it for another one, and the replacement doesn’t seem to have that issue as easily. If I tapped on the connection really hard, I could eventually get it to disconnect as well, but I don’t feel that would be an issue under normal conditions so I let it slide. Also, pay attention when installing the long cable for the rear camera. Even though both connections are the same type, the casing of the connectors is different. One connector end is meant specifically for the rear camera. I made the mistake of getting it backwards on my first installation.
