This camera appears to work great, parking radar operates as it should and many of the settings are easy to adjust on the smartphone app. When you unbox this expensive flagship model from Thinkware all you are going to find is 3 cables, adhesive pads, and a warranty book in 17 languages (that will immediately go in the trash). You will need to figure the rest out on your own. Some of it is intuitive and most of your install time will be spent running the wires, but getting the rest done will require some advice from online videos. Including a QR code or physical book to an install guide is just a suggestion for the company, but the product quality is top-notch.

The system works really well despite poor support. However the rear radar simply doesn’t work. Others on YouTube have this issue too. I would hold out until they fix the kinks. support is not helpful and the product has a few critical bugs.

Quality is only slightly better than Blackview DR-900. Thinkware is larger. Connection to phone is easier with U3000. Setup to cloud is nightmare. Overall I’m happy but cloud setup forces me to remove star.

I recently picked up the THINKWARE U3000 running a dual setup for front and rear coverage. Gotta say, it’s quite a solid performer. The radar parking mode is a standout feature, adding a significant layer of security. The camera’s image quality is on point, delivering clear and detailed footage.
However, it’s a bit of a downer that there’s no HDR mode. On bright sunny days, this can lead to blown-out highlights, especially with license plates. It’s not a deal-breaker, but it’s a notable omission.
In my evaluation, I’d give it a solid 4 stars. The dashcam is technically sound, and the included accessories like the ODBC power cable, cable clips, and a heat shield sticker are practical additions. Toss in HDR, and this would easily be a 5-star contender.

After doing research for the current 2023 lineup of dashcams, I settled on this model. Video image quality had its pro’s and con’s compared to other models, but after personally using it and viewing video quality, I feel it achieves what I’m looking for in a dashcam.
Installation on this camera was pretty easy. I did have an issue with the rear camera though. The connection to the camera was not great. Slightly tapping the connection would cause it to disconnect. I did end up exchanging it for another one, and the replacement doesn’t seem to have that issue as easily. If I tapped on the connection really hard, I could eventually get it to disconnect as well, but I don’t feel that would be an issue under normal conditions so I let it slide. Also, pay attention when installing the long cable for the rear camera. Even though both connections are the same type, the casing of the connectors is different. One connector end is meant specifically for the rear camera. I made the mistake of getting it backwards on my first installation.

I purchased the U3000 with front and rear cameras for my 2020 Mercedes C300. I was able to mount the unit to the plastic rain sensor housing and no cables are visible. I had to run a permanent live from the trunk and was able to tap the accessory wire under the glove compartment and tapped to the back of the 12v accessory port wires. The dash cam works great and has not let me down connecting to the car Wi-Fi. Picture quality is amazing and get no glare with the cpl filter. Night view mode is a blessing and able to reed license plates. Parking mode works flawlessly. Day time picture quality with the bright sunlight in December is amazing and able to read license plates. I am highly impressed with this camera and highly recommend if you are driving a Mercedes because of the almost factory look. The only thing I wish if the rear cam had a 90 degree connection point then the visible wire would not be a issue and would be tucked away under the headliner. Also I have to point out that customer service is truly amazing and responded straight away via email almost immediately on both occasions. If you drive a Mercedes then this is the best option available. I have used a Blackvue but the camera is just not suited to the Mercedes due to its shape and connection points. I wanted a install with no visible wires and this is best option according to me. I really hope my review helps the community who is interested in the Thinkware U3000. Thank you.

I’ve been using Thinkware products for many years. Mainly been using the Thinkware F800 2 Channel in my F150. I recently decided to upgrade to the U3000, and am not disappointed at all. It is a very solid upgrade over the previous 1080 generation of dash cameras from Thinkware.
The app is much more intuitive then the older one which constantly had connection issues. I did have a few issues at first as I could not get the U3000 to connect to the app for the initial setup. After many hours of trouble shooting I found out it was because I plopped in the older dash camera MicroSD card that was full, and the camera wouldn’t function correctly until I reformatted the MicroSD card on the computer. I was then able to plug it in and complete the initial setup and reformat the card on the device directly.
Overall the camera quality is great, the parking modes, and the included OBD connection setup is fantastic. Much easier, and don’t have to worry about hardwiring this camera directly to the battery/fusebox. The parking modes can be a bit intimidating, but with some tweaking you can get it just right so that you don’t have 10+ alerts every time you get in the car.
Compared to some other dash camera brands, I was a bit reserved on my purchase, as some online videos were pretty rough on this U3000, regarding quality compared to other 4k models. But in the end, I went ahead with the U3000 just due to the reliability of the parking modes, and experience with the previous camera I’ve used for many years.
On sale, this is a must have for sure if you want something reliable that will function on very hot summer days or very cold winter nights and still function as intended. There are also many online features that I have not yet tested.

The U3000 provides high quality videos both front and rear. It is easy to install and setup. The support for THINKWARE is excellent as well. My only suggestions are to improve the apps to be easier to manage and view events.

While the picture is not as good as I expected, it is still quite nice! The biggest plus for me is that this camera actually turns on/works when its supposed to, and shuts off/stops recording when it’s supposed to. I can’t say that about the other dashcam brand I bought a few months ago! The U3000 is also easy to connect to the app and easy to set up. Definitely happy so far with this purchase!

I didn’t have any problems with the rear camera – installing or using. I followed the installation instructions and ensured that the end of the cable labeled “”FRONT”” was inserted into the front/main dashcam.
To make installation easier I downloaded the Android app, powered the dashcam temporarily with the 12v adapter, and watched live on my phone as I positioned the camera before touching the adhesive to the glass
I also didn’t have a problem finding a user manual/instructions, as the one guide that came in the package had a QR code that takes you to a web page with user manuals for all of Thinkware’s products.
The radar/motion detection has worked well so far.
I will edit this review (if possible) to include any long term observations, and to see if this camera holds up to winter cold.

Great hardware. THINKWARE should strongly consider consolidating access their on-line systems to use ONE login and ONE password. I had to create TWO separate accounts with separate passwords to access resources. I have ENOUGH logins and passwords to contend with in my life, and I needed two more to get to the functionality that this equipment offers. Other than that, the hardware is excellent, installed well, and provides excellent video. Lastly, their high-level technical support is OUTSTANDING.

I recently installed the rear camera but cannot get it to work. I have checked the wiring and camera and every thing looks ok but it does not work! Hope you can help me on this one. I have paid $80 for this install that does not work. The front camera has worked ok since it was installed!!!!!

I really do not like this product. Given its price point I really expected more.
I have many complaints:
1. The viewing angle is annoying for a jeep wrangler given the angle of the windshield. The camera doesn’t pivot enough for me to put this up near the headliner, or under my collision sensor.
2. The setup is frustrating – instructions should be much easier to follow, there’s some pretty critical details that you have to dig around to find. Took me way too long to setup for what it is.
3. No matter what I do the wifi connection isn’t stable, and drops after some time. I’ve never had much success.
4. Even when there’s a strong wifi hotspot half the time the remote monitoring doesn’t connect.
5. Not enough cable clips are provide to wire the rear camera well. For such an expensive camera expect all the hardware to be included.
6. USB cable for rear to front is pretty loose and sometimes falls out…
7. Both front and rear camera fell off the dash after some time.
8. The voice is extremely annoying… there’s very few options for audio other than off and on.
9. No cloud option? I provide a hotspot why do I have to connect to the camera directly and download content…
10. More detail around settings should be provided it’s super opaque what each item does, the UX is terrible.
Overall I wish I had returned this product, I’ve actually just unplugged it because I find it pretty much useless.

Straightforward, easy install
I’m not the most tech-savvy person, so I was a bit worried about setting up a dash cam. But the U3000 was surprisingly easy to install.
The instructions were clear and the app makes it super simple to download footage to my phone.
The video quality is amazing, everything is so sharp. If you’re looking for a dash cam that is easy to use, this is the one!

The best dashcam.
Parking sensor works great. Paired with my car’s hotspot for alerts on my phone. 5Ghz wifi option lets the dashcam connect to my car’s hotspot at the same time as i have an Android Auto connection to my car. Considering it for my other car too, but the price is holding me back from getting a 2nd.

strong contender in a large pool
bought u3000-2ch elsewhere. five stars because, well, it’s dependable in a vast sea of want-to-be’s. this dash cam takes excellent video in what could be a bad situation that for some reason is squished horizontally in the app & is badly level-balanced. the adas is meh at best .. do like the notice of car-in-front pulling away while stopped at light. the obd cable makes installation somewhat easy but you’ll still have to find a route to the rear camera and it’s a thick cable. i tried in-car wifi, home wifi, & phone hotspot, with all three cam connects to internet fine however the live video doesn’t want to work??? the built-in radar works well in park mode — a nice addition. the settings somehow leaves one questioning what low & high mean .. feels like a poor translation??? the polarizing lens should be pre-installed or, better, just part of the cameras. had the u1000 and like this upgraded cam.

Great 4K quality
I bought the U3000 mainly for its 4K resolution and its radar parking mode.
A couple weeks ago, I parked at a shopping center and someone had scuffed up my bumper.
I did some research and many people mentioned this camera has one of the best parking mode.
So far, parking mode is working well.

100% Worth it
I purchase the unit when it was $500 for the two channel. I’m sure down the road it will drop in price. Even at $500, I think this unit is worth it. I’ve had the unit for about two months now. So far I love everything about it, even the announcements, which I think are SUPER helpful. The video quality is really good. The one thing I did hate is that 3M sticker that you need to peel off. That thing is horrible. To point out, that’s a 3M sticker problem and not Thinkware
3 Month update: I love the unit. My only complaint is that connecting to the unit through the app is pretty slow; however, I rarely try to connect. If I need a video, I just do it through the laptop using the sd card.

Expensive but worth it
Someone at our apartment complex was scratching my car. We didn’t catch them, I’m pretty sure it was our neighbor and he stopped himself one night when he saw my new camera. If a bird craps on my car I am notified so there isn’t going to be anyone scratching my car again!

Real-time remote live view
The THINKWARE U3000 is a bit pricey, but I think it’s one of the top-tier dash cams currently available.
I wanted a real-time remote live view capability during parking mode. Only three brands offer this feature, and THINKWARE is one of them.
However, to fully utilize parking mode, you need to purchase a separate external battery pack, which typically costs around $400. Occasionally, it goes on sale for about $50 less, but I’d like to buy it if it gets even cheaper.

Works great as advertised
I had the unit professionally installed with all cables hidden. Used OBD port. I upgraded to 256gb card. Use mostly for parking. The 2 apps needed to get full use is kind of a pain, but doesn’t detract from the unit itself. Would like to see a zoom or enhanced feature to focus on license plate or faces for identification.

My U3000 thoughts so far
Upgraded my U1000 w/radar to a U3000. I’m pleased with the upgrade. I have no issues with the DashCam Link App., The Bluetooth connection is convenient for viewing or changing cam settings and checking status (incident notifications). Also no problems when the App needs to switch over to Wifi for viewing the videos. The U3000 comes with some added fine tuning – 1 to 5 meter distance settings for both the front and back cams, still testing the sensitivity of these settings. Viofo might have a slight edge in 4K video quality (A329S), but Thinkware reliability, parking modes and power consumption met my needs. By the way, I’ve always had good luck with Sandisk High Endurance 256GB sdxc memory cards, never tried the 512GB card yet and still using my iVolt Mini as the external battery source. Just passing on my experience, Good Luck!
