1. Connecting the dash cam to a mobile hotspot device or a Wi-Fi network with Internet access will consume data. Carrier/Service Provider charges may apply.
2. The smartphone used to set up the Internet connection on the dash cam cannot also be used as a mobile hotspot for the dash cam. A different hotspot device/smartphone is required.
3. To connect the dash cam to the internet, use the Thinkware Dash Cam Link App. Once the dash cam is connected to the internet, you can go to the Thinkware CONNECTED app to get access to CONNECTED features.

This dash cam is excellent! The video quality is super clear, even at night. It was very easy to set up myself in just a few minutes. I really like the loop recording feature and the reliable parking mode, which gives me great peace of mind. The mobile app is simple to use for viewing and saving clips. Received a defective item, but Thinkware makes it so hard to make a valid case, on top of that it took them forever to respond one email so it took me total of three weeks to finally get them to accept they will send me a replacement unit but then I’ll have to wait another 7+ days to wait for evaluation, the unit is clearly defective and they already made me take so many videos and pictures for that. Now I would have to be on a roadtrip without dashcam for a week.

Preparing for when my teen starts driving alone
I got the Thinkware U3000 because my teenager is currently driving with his learner’s permit, and we’re getting ready for when he starts driving on his own soon. The setup was simple, and the camera connected right away. The daytime video looks clear, and the nighttime footage came out better than I expected. I added a short clip so you can see exactly how the video looks in both situations. So far, it feels like a reliable option for extra peace of mind.

Good parking monitoring but difficult to get connected to the apps. It runs very hot but apparently this doesn’t cause any issues. I found the time settings to be really confusing as it only uses UTC time. Found the PC based app to be less than intuitive for reviewing files on the sandisk, but its possible.
I installed using the OBD2 port and ran the cable myself rather easily by pressing it into the door seal channel. I would say installing is very easy.
It is possible to have realtime live monitoring but on my car the hotspot powers down when the car is off.
I contacted the customer support several times and they do reply but not on weekends.
Overall it might be the best one available if parking monitoring is your priority. Im satisfied with it.
