The Thinkware M1 is a general purpose motorcycle camera system. Its primarily designed to be a waterproof unit made for cycling. The system uses a micro sd card for recording events in 1 minute files. This unit is not meant as a LPR (License Plate Reader) but can capture plates directly in line with front and rear cameras having little perpendicular movement. I have the Main Unit located in my left saddle bag to allow easy access and cameras front and rear facing. The unit is a highly reliable system which I never have to worry about. Set it and forget it. I use the recorded files as instructional videos as a Safety Officer in my Riders group. I am preparing for a trip to Colorado to record the awesome scenery with my rear camera mounted on my modular helmet. Adapt, improvise and overcome.

I installed the M1 system on my Harley Ultra Limited because I wanted a system that automatically records whenever the ignition is on. I had tried using a GoPro as a dashcam but this was a hassle and unreliable. I have found the video quality to be outstanding from both front and back cameras. I mounted the control module under the seat and used velcro to position it inside the seat split facing up which allows me to access the mini SD card without removing the seat. I really like this system.

cameras are pretty big but give a great image quality compared to other dash cams. Lots of wiring to try to hide which is challenging on my harley fxdl. I had to modify my seat to allow room for the head unit and wiring. Would also be nice if the remote came with a handle bar mount instead of double sided tape. I fabricated a mount for the handle that seem to work. Overall it’s a great high quality product that does what it says. If you don’t have much room under your seat, then be prepared to do some mods.
