My partner and I don’t really cook so we don’t have a lot of food waste. We normally collect our scraps for a few days before bringing them down to the garbage room. I dread packing up the scraps and dealing with the smell, especially during the Summer months. Thankfully I came across the MUMU food composter and thought the concept was neat. I’ve been using it for over a month and am quite satisfied. No longer have to deal with the smell, and hardly any noise. Pretty easy to use, just throw in the scraps whenever and it automatically processes when there is enough food waste inside. My partner is also very impressed with the machine.

I’ve done some research and ended up going with the MUMU. It is a quality food composter and suits my countertop. I like the fact that it has a push button to open the lid, compared to others that have a screw-on top. The lid is not flimsy. The bucket is non-stick.

It’s bigger than I thought, but I like the fact that it has that much more capacity. I used it for the first time today and there was no smell even when I put my nose up close to the exhaust vent. I’ll have to use it more to find out, but I think if you replace the filter regularly, you won’t have to worry about the smell. With the weather getting warmer, food waste has been an issue but this is very reassuring.

I was initially looking to buy a microbial composter but I fell in love with the Bluevent MUMU. As expected, it’s really good.
I love how the food waste is stored until the minimal weight is collected then it runs automatically.
I also really like the fact that I can take out the bucket and wash it every time I use it. I am a little OCD, so this helped. There is no smell at all when it runs and cleanup is very easy! Plus, it has a large capacity, so you can fill it up without worry.
I was hesitant to buy a microbial composter because it didn’t suit me, but I am so glad I found MUMU. It’s the most satisfying product I’ve purchased recently!

First off its made really well. Its solid, weighs a good amount and works like magic. It has a lock function, the internal collection bucket has an easy to grab handle and the bucket and inside of the machine is coated with a really nice non stick surface so its been really easy to clean after each use. The impeller parts that turn the agitator and all the important parts appear to be metal and solid so it should last a good long time.
The back has a drain port and its where the carbon filter fits in and the exhaust ports out. Be aware different foods put out much more humidity than others. It seems like that makes sense but it became really evident when I tossed in some watermelon rind. So depending on where you have it set up and running some items might be better to pre-dry or even just skip. Overall the machine is just amazing and has been a fun thing to do with the kid both in teaching them about food waste and recycling but also having a very hands on process of taking food waste right outside and putting it in our herbs and plants.

We have this set up on top of our washer in an outdoor laundry room, but I can’t imagine having it in the kitchen on the counter. The function is absolutely spot on. A full bucket of waste (4-6 days of collection for us) seems to take around 6 hours to convert to compost and an hour or so to cool enough to remove the bucket. During this process, however, our small laundry room gets very warm and extremely humid, to the point that we have to have the door or window open or condensation collects like crazy on the glass and it can be very heavy to breath when you enter. While the effect may be lessened in the kitchen, which would be larger and less closed off, I wouldn’t want yet another thing putting off that much heat and humidity in our daily living space. My recommendation would be to plan to put it out of the way somewhere, not on the counter.

These type of machines are becoming more common than the old inexpensive outdoor more natural type than can attract the wildlife in residential like happened with us.
This is a nice esthetic looking and depending on how much counter space you have may take up a little more room than a Vitamix.
We are a family of 2 right now but this seems good for up to 4. Seems to run just like our dishwasher in both noise level and total cycle time including drying time. We find best before bedtime to use.
It’s almost Spring time so the Eco mode for compost works for her upcoming garden.
What’s not so good
This is very pricey
The charcoal filters are also expensive and a must at least 4 or 3 times a year depending on your usage.
The bottom line for this unit is that it works well, looks nice, but very expensive. The filters are very expensive and can only get from manufacturer no generic as of yet. This company makes many other electronics like dash cams, where other composter companies focus on just building kitchen type products at good prices. I would say unless you see a coupon or lighting deal for this, there are many others to compare to at a better value.

My first impression on this food scrap appliance is that it’s a behemoth. It can hold scraps for up to (but not limited to) a family of four. Regular additions to the bin are ventilated into a charcoal filter so it’s practically odorless. Once the lid is locked the cycle begins. I typically run it overnight, and the compacting / drying / grinding takes about 5-6 hours. It makes about the same amount of noise as a dishwasher when up close but you won’t hear it between rooms or floors of the house. Quite the surprise as it’s reduced quite a bit, 1.3kg down to 0.2kg. Everything is auto weighed, which is good for tracking. With the current promo and 2 free charcoal filters the price is very competitive to the other appliances in the same category. I recommend this product.

I’ve been using it for 2 weeks and so far, it doesn’t smell. The amount of waste that can be reduced is impressive. A 2lb watermelon rind turned into just a handful of compost. Especially in the summer, getting rid of food waste is a problem, but this solves that.
You can also collect food waste in storage mode until there is enough waste. Even after a few days, when I opened the lid, there was no smell.
When I first received it, I was surprised by its size as it was bigger than I expected, but the design is nice and overall I am happy with it.

This composter does a great job! I was able to put in a lot of fruit, meat, potatoes, some fruit, peels, and some beans and rice. You can see from the picture, that it turned everything into great compost. It has a really good consistency to it, and has great nutrition for plants.
There are a few different modes on this composter, there is a green mode which makes compost. There’s also one that just breaks down and materials and then a storage mode so it gives you a lot of options for what you can do. But I’m always gonna make compost with the green mode.
This is going to help significantly reduce my cost of buying, compost and nutrients at the store for my garden. I’m excited to keep using it!

First of all, it’s really simple to use. Using the AI mode, you put food in it and lock it. Then, it automatically starts measuring and processing the content. It’s okay to add food during the processing.
I bought this in the summer because it was a hassle to throw away the food waste as it stunk badly, but it doesn’t smell at all. It also grinds easily and makes no noise. I would wash the dishes in the evening and turn it on at night, but when I checked in the morning, the waste were cleanly ground and had a fragrant smell. I don’t know how long the filter will last, but as long as the filter lasts a long time, it seems like a really cost-effective product.

While I was having a hard time deciding on a food composter, I came across Mumu by chance. I am very happy with it. When dried, the food waste usually shrinks by 0.1 to 0.2 kg. There is no smell or noise. My husband checks every day to see if it’s running. It is very easy with the AI mode as Mumu turns on automatically when 1KG of food is collected. Once it’s dried, you can throw it away with regular trash. I plan to gift one to my parents soon.
mira (verified owner) –
It’s bigger than I thought, but it fits in nicely in my kitchen. Maybe it’s because I’ve only used it for a month, but there’s no smell. They say the filter needs to be replaced every 2-3 months, so I think I’ll have to use it a little more to find out. There are concerns about environmental pollution and microorganism management when it comes to products that can be ground, but MUMU is easy to use. In particular, it is quite convenient to keep food waste in the storage setting until the minimum weight is reached. I recommend it.
