At THINKWARE, we uphold our commitment to delivering world class dash cam technology to our customers. We acknowledge and regret the recent concerns raised about the functionality of the built-in radar in the U3000’s rear view camera.

The U3000 has a built-in radar sensor designed to capture reflected waves and determine their return time to the sensor. This calculated time delay enables the dash cam to interpret the motion patterns of detected objects, facilitating the Parking Mode’s motion detection feature.

Following a thorough investigation, we have concluded that the radar detection issue of the U3000’s rear view camera lies in the failure of the rear view camera cable to establish a complete connection with the rear view camera. This is caused by the connector of the rear view camera cable not being fully inserted into its corresponding port.

Despite not being fully connected, the rear view camera may appear to be functional as it is still capable of recording and detecting movements in regular Motion Detection Parking mode. This is because the top power pins responsible for video recording and motion detection are longer than the bottom power pins responsible for the radar signal. As such, even if the connector is not fully inserted, the longer top power pins can still establish contact with the port while the shorter bottom I/O pins for radar remain disconnected and in a non-contact state, thus failing to operate as intended.

To ensure a proper connection, it is crucial to confirm not only the correct orientation of the connector (marked R) to the port of the rear view camera, but also that the connector be fully inserted all the way in until a distinct ‘click’ sound is heard. We’ve incorporated this essential information into the updated manual for your reference.

For anyone experiencing issues with U3000 rear camera radar recognition, we strongly recommend revisiting the connection between the rear camera and cable port (marked R). Ensure a secure connection by listening for the ‘click’ sound. Your attention to this detail plays a crucial role in ensuring the proper functionality of the rear camera radar.
