PARKING SURVEILLANCE MODE
Requires Hardwiring Cable (professional installation recommended) or OBD II Power Cable and installation for Parking Surveillance mode
Parking Surveillance mode is automatically activated when you turn off the ignition, and captures footage when a motion or impact is detected so you have video evidence of mishaps like hit-and-runs while you’re away from your vehicle.
RADAR MODULE
Optional Radar Module is sold separately
When in Energy Saving Mode 2.0, the Radar Module allows the dash cam to extend its Parking Surveillance mode duration by reducing the power consumption. When a motion is detected by the Radar Module, the dash cam wakes up and gets ready to record.
If an impact is detected, a 20 second video (10 seconds before and 10 seconds after the impact) is saved in a dedicated folder on the MicroSD card. When no impacts are detected, the dash cam does not save the footage and resumes Energy Saving Mode 2.0.

Absolute garbage of a Dash Cam, especially considering the premium price you pay.
Just search Thinkware U1000 screeching on Google and you’ll find hundreds of sites mentioning the poor quality of this camera and the screeching you have to endure every time you turn off and on your car.
What’s worse is the company knows this and they do not stand by their product. Shame on you. Had to jump through hoops to get them to even consider my claim, to which even if it’s a manufacturing issues, you either have to pay them to fix the camera or they give you a three month code that expires to repurchase the same garbage.
This was my first Thinkware dash cam and this experience will mean it’s my last. Service request(87803

Absolutely garbage dashcam for the price. No, I don’t have a comparison dashcam that I wish I could say was better. But the “4K” marketing is literally bullshit. The “4K” is upscaled, so, sure, you may get the 3840 × 2160 resolution, but its super pixelated. I have literally had cars pass me on either side, and I was unable to get a clear plate image from them, you essentially have to be driving directly in front or behind a vehicle at less than a car length away to be able to read licence plates. The app (desktop and mobile) have the most horrible UI you can find; its like someone hired the production team behind Windows Vista to create the interface for the apps. In addition, in typical Thinkware fashion, they will sell you an overpriced camera one year, and then 8 months later release a new model at the same price and slash the price of your model by 60%+, this is fine, with the exception that the cable for the rear camera from the old Q800 Pro model (or any other model in fact) does not work with the U1000 model (they made the Micro-USB port backwards so that the cable would angle downwards on the windshield), forcing you to redundantly buy another rear camera that you don’t need.

don’t buy this crap, their sd card is way too expensive for the current aftermarket value of the sd cards, they hostage your dashcam, they squeeze your pocket. it won’t work on aftermarket sd cards, it only records 20 sec for a continuous recording. 20 sec, how can you say it’s continuous recording if it only records 20 sec. The quality of the video is not bad but it’s not what I expected for a premium price. I don’t recommend it… if I could rate 0 or negative, i would
