In order to receive accurate and up-to-date Red Light and Speed Camera notifications, you will need to ensure your dash cam is using the latest Speed Cam Data.
Approximately every 6 months the speed cam data is updated. By Updating the Speed Cam Data your Dash Cam will have our most-recent database for Safety Cameras in your region.
Speed Cam Data can only be updated by using a PC or Mac Computer by taking out the SD. Speed Cam Data can not be updated through the Mobile App.
Updating Speed Cam Data via PC
Step One: Locate the Thinkware Micro SD Adapter in the original box. Insert the SD Card into the Adapter, and then into your PC.
Step Two: Open your web browser and navigate to www.thinkwarestore.com > Support > Downloads
Step Three: Select your Model of Dash Cam
Step Four: Download the Speed Cam Data for your country.
Step Five: Once downloaded, locate the file in your computer’s Downloads section.
Step Six: Double Click the ZIP File to open. Copy the “smartguidepoint.dx2” file.
Step Seven: Paste into the “driveinfo” folder on the Micro SD. Ensure to select “Replace this File in the destination”. This keeps the latest update file and removes the older data.
Step Eight: Right-Click the name of the SD and select “Eject” to safely remove MicroSD from your computer.
Step Nine: Insert the SD Card back into the Dash Cam and power it on. The Dash Cam will boot up normally with the updated Speed Cam File in effect.
The Speed Cam Data in your Dash Cam is now updated!
Updating Speed Cam Data via PC
Step One: Locate the Thinkware Micro SD Adapter in the original box. Insert the SD Card into the Adapter, and then into your PC

Step Three: Select your Model of Dash Cam
Step Four: Download the Speed Cam Data for your country.
Step Five: Once downloaded, locate the file in your computer’s Downloads section.
Step Six: Double Click the ZIP File to open. Copy the “smartguidepoint.dx2” file.
Step Seven: Paste into the “driveinfo” folder on the Micro SD. Ensure to replace/delete the old smartguidepoint.dx2 file.
Step Eight: Right-click the Name of SD on the left panel and select Eject. The Micro SD can now be safely removed from your computer.
Step Nine: Insert the SD Card back into the Dash Cam and power it on. The Dash Cam will boot up normally with the updated Speed Cam File in effect.
