Connecting to your Dash Cam via Hotspot unlocks the potential of the Thinkware Cloud Features. To use the Vehicle Tracking, Geo-Fencing, Impact Notification/Video, as well as Remote Live View, the Dash Cam must be connected to the Internet. 

You can use your Smartphone’s Hotspot, Mobile Hotspot Device, or an in-vehicle Hotspot to provide Internet to your Dash Cam. 

To Connect via Hotspot to your F800, F800PRO, Q800PRO, or U1000 Dash Cam, please follow the instructions below. 

Connecting with an iPhone:

1)  Open the Thinkware Cloud App and Tap the “Not Connected” Bar

2)  Select Add a New Connection > (Dash Cam Model) > Hotspot > First Time Connecting, Select Yes

3)  Press the Dash Cam’s Wi-Fi Button

4)  Connect to the Thinkware Wi-Fi Network then reopen the Thinkware Cloud App

5)  Press Next, and input your phone’s Hotspot SSID (username) and password

6)  Reopen the Thinkware Cloud App and press Next

7)  Turn on your phone’s Hotspot in Settings. Do Not open the Thinkware Cloud App yet.


8)  Once the Blue Bar appears at the top of the screen saying 1 Connection, open the Thinkware Cloud App.

9)  You are now Connected via Hotspot!

Connecting with an Android:

1)  Open the Thinkware Cloud App and Tap the “Not Connected” Bar

2)  Select Add a New Connection > (Dash Cam Model) > Hotspot > First Time Connecting? Select Yes

3)  Press the Dash Cam’s Wi-Fi Button

4)  Connect to the Thinkware Wi-Fi Network then reopen the Thinkware Cloud App

5)  Press Next, and input your phone’s Hotspot SSID (username) and password

6)  Reopen the Thinkware Cloud App and press Next

7)  Turn on your phone’s Hotspot in Settings. Do Not open the Thinkware App yet.

8)  Once you hear “Connected to the Internet”, open the Thinkware Cloud App.

9)  You are now Connected via Hotspot!

Connecting with a Hotspot Device/Vehicle Hotspot:

1)  Ensure you are connected to the Dash Cam with a Phone Hotspot, to prepare for the Mobile Hotspot

2) On the Thinkware Cloud App select Connection Settings

3) Select Hotspot Settings > + Symbol in the Top Right Corner

4) Input the Mobile Hotspot’s SSID and Password

5) Select Save then Select the Mobile Hotspot Network. This will cause the phone to Disconnect from the Dash Cam, and it will begin searching for the Mobile Hotspot.

6) Once you hear “Connected to the Internet” you have successfully connected.
